Opportunity – Austin Girl’s Choir
Austin Girls’ Choir is accepting singers now, and our ensemble for high school girls is eager to welcome new choristers! This group practices on Sunday afternoons 2-3:30 p.m. in central Austin, and performs mostly on the weekends, so that girls are able to maintain their school choir amd band commitments without conflict.
We want people who want the extra challenge of singing 4- to 6-part harmony and learning a wide range of repertoire. Maybe you’ve got a boatload of 9th-grade girls who need extra attention and training, or perhaps some experienced singers who want to stretch even more – we’ve got places for all levels. For girls in this age group, we are a good resource for extracurricular training that helps them shine within their school ensembles, plus grow their skills and confidence. With the amount of material we cover, reading skills and confidence improve dramatically. And as teachers often tell us, girls with Austin Girls’ Choir training make a positive difference within their school groups, modeling a great tone and shortening learning time on new songs.
We offer a special 20%-off tuition discount for 5 or more students from a single school, and we do sliding scale for those in need. Our mission (since 1990) is to provide a top-level choral experience and performance opportunities, while simultaneously helping choristers develop personal skills and strengths, and preparing them to enrich and lead in their communities as adults.
