The Westwood Choir Booster Club sponsors a tailgate party each year to bring together the Westwood HS Choir Learning Community in advance of the performance of the National Anthem at the Homecoming Game. Remember to bring $ for items during the game if you choose to stay! Parents are invited to stay and mingle just as much as the students!

What Do I Wear?
- Informal Choir Uniform:
- Westwood Choir Shirt (or any Westwood shirt if you are involved directly with another Homecoming Activity)
- Jeans
- Closed toe shoes – no flip-flops or sandals
- REMEMBER – no backpacks/bags allowed in the stadium!
Food Menu Items
- Burgers (Veggie Burgers available)
- Snack type items
Itinerary
- 3:30 pm – Booster parents arrive at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex, begin setup
- 4:45 pm – Choir officers arrive at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex
- 5:00 pm – Students from Westwood HS, Canyon Vista MS, and Grisham MS are welcome to join us
- 6:00 pm – Brief combined rehearsal, in the general area of the tailgate
- 6:15 pm – Students line up in performance order
- 6:30 pm – Students walk into the stadium in the west (Band) entrance
- 7:00 pm – Choirs sing the National Anthem with the Westwood Warrior Band
Burgers served starting at 5:00 PM
Homecoming Game – 7:00 PM
WE COULD REALLY USE SOME PARENT HELP WITH THE BURGERS!
One of our biggest needs this year is help grilling burgers at home ahead of the tailgate.
We are asking for several parents who would be willing to take a batch of burgers home, grill them before the tailgate, and bring the cooked burgers with you to Kelly Reeves on Friday.
We will supply the burgers, buns, and foil to wrap them in — we just need your help grilling!
By having several families each prepare a batch at home, all of our burgers can arrive at the tailgate cooked and ready to serve. There will be no grilling at the tailgate, so having parents help us prepare the burgers ahead of time will make a HUGE difference!
Don’t have a grill? We also have an extra tabletop Blackstone grill available for a parent volunteer to take home and use.
WE NEED LOTS OF HELP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
Our SignUpGenius has several opportunities to contribute. We are currently looking for:
Drinks: 8 oz. water bottles, Dr Pepper, Coca-Cola & Sprite
Food: variety-pack chips, Cutie oranges & individually packaged apple slices
Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayo & relish
Supplies: napkins, trash bags & Clorox cleanup wipes
Coolers: empty coolers/ice chests
Yard Games: Cornhole, Giant Jenga, 9 Square, etc.
Volunteers: setup, serving & cleanup
Burger Grilling: parents willing to grill a batch of burgers at home before the tailgate
There are plenty of ways to help, whether you can donate an item, lend us something for the evening, grill a batch of burgers, or volunteer some of your time.
IMPORTANT DROP-OFF INFORMATION
If you sign up to donate an item, please have your donated items dropped off at the Westwood Choir Room by Wednesday, September 23. This will give us time to organize everything and make sure we have what we need before Friday’s tailgate.
Parents helping grill burgers at home will bring the cooked burgers with them on Friday rather than dropping them off on Wednesday.
VOLUNTEER TIMES
We could also really use some extra hands on Friday:
Setup: 4:00–5:30 PM
Serving: 5:00–6:00 PM
Cleanup: 5:30–6:30 PM
Even if you can only help for part of a shift, your help is greatly appreciated!
After the tailgate, we hope you’ll stay and cheer on our Westwood Warriors and our choir students as they perform the National Anthem before the Homecoming Game! If you plan to stay for the game, remember to bring money for any food, drinks, or other items you may want to purchase during the game.
