Savan Kotecha Scholarships

Savan Kotecha, songwriter, has been the recipient of 9 BMI Awards, 13 ASCAP Awards, and 2 Billboard Music Awards. His songs have achieved number-one status all over the world, having sold more than 250 million copies. Kotecha was seen on the American version of Simon Cowell‘s The X Factor as a vocal producer, a role reprised from the original UK show; Kotecha aided and developed the show’s budding talent.

Kotecha is also a Westwood HS Choir alum who has graciously awarded several scholarships for Westwood HS Choir students. He met with several classes at the end of SXSW this year to share his story to success as a songwriter, and to announce his support of the 2018 Kotecha Scholarship Awards.

2018 Awards

  • Open to underclassmen returning to Westwood Choir during the next school year
    • $500 awards for 4 returning underclassmen
  • Open to graduating Westwood Choir seniors pursuing music following graduation
    • 2 individual $10,000 awards

  1. Completion of demographic information
  2. Secure a teacher recommendation – we will email the teacher their form.
  3. An essay – “How do you see music playing a role in your future?” (pdf recommended)
  4. An audio file of you performing a solo work – can be a song from solo and ensemble or a contemporary piece. (mp3 recommended)
